Step #1 in Jonathan’s Journey

We’ve never had a blog, but hope this might make it easier to relay information to you all, our praying family and friends.

In early November, Jon asked me to schedule an appointment for a yearly physical to see if it would get him a discount on his insurance. The doctor’s soonest available appointment wasn’t until mid-January, but after reaching out to him directly (thank you, Dr Melba!), he was able to work Jon in two weeks later. It’s significant to me that it was for insurance reasons, NOT because he was in severe pain or concern over any health issues. How often are these things detected after a traumatic visit to the ER?

Lab work showed an abnormality that prompted further investigation. After those tests were run over the course of a week, we received the news that Jon had stage four colon cancer.

His chemo treatments will begin in the next couple weeks, and continue bi-weekly for 24 weeks.

As with everything in life, God leads us along the path He chooses, just one step at a time. One day at a time. One procedure at a time. He gives grace for each trial and help from above, unfading kindness and unfailing love.

  1. Thank you for this blog. You two already glorify God, and I know this will benefit and bless many.

    God once asked Abraham, Is anything too hard for the LORD (Gen 18:14)? The sure answer - No!

    We sing, Jesus is Master of ocean, and earth, and skies. He is also the Master of Disease.

    We love you very much and look forward to God's perfect will for His glory and your profit.

  2. II Kings 20: 2-6

    "Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, saying, I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him, saying, Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the Lord. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

    I pray this for Jonathan everyday, multiple times a day, as he fulfills the requirements for God to hear and answer just like he did above, but for more than 15 years in God's mercy.

  3. Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. Psalm 50:15b Thank you for starting this blog and being willing to share your journey with us. May the Lord be glorified in you!

  4. And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this cancer. O Lord , thou art our God; let not this cancer prevail against thee.

    Jonathan, Christina & family: We are praying God's mercy on your wonderful family. We are going to bother the High King of Heaven with this request until He answers us, per the lesson His Son, Jesus, taught us.

    We love you, and are in this together with you.

  5. Psalms 102:1-2, 12, 17-28 (KJV)
    A PRAYER OF THE AFFLICTED, WHEN HE IS OVERWHELMED, AND POURETH OUT HIS COMPLAINT BEFORE THE LORD.
    1 Hear my prayer, O LORD,
    and let my cry come unto thee.
    2 Hide not thy face from me
    in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me:
    in the day when I call answer me speedily.

    12 But thou, O LORD, shalt endure for ever;
    and thy remembrance unto all generations.

    17 He will regard the prayer of the destitute,
    and not despise their prayer.
    18 This shall be written for the generation to come:
    and the people which shall be created shall praise the LORD.
    19 For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary;
    from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;
    20 To hear the groaning of the prisoner;
    to loose those that are appointed to death;
    21 To declare the name of the LORD in Zion,
    and his praise in Jerusalem;
    22 When the people are gathered together,
    and the kingdoms, to serve the LORD.
    23 He weakened my strength in the way;
    he shortened my days.
    24 I said, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days:
    thy years are throughout all generations.
    25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth:
    and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
    26 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure:
    yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment;
    as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
    27 But thou art the same,
    and thy years shall have no end.
    28 The children of thy servants shall continue,
    and their seed shall be established before thee.

    Dear ones in Christ, I and mine are continuing instant in prayer and supplication to our Heavenly Father for you all. He is Lord of all!

  6. "Do good, O Lord, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts." Ps 125

    "Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee." Job 22

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts in this blog. It is a privilege to know you and to pray for your exceptional souls.

    God's greatness and goodness to you leaves us in awe and we glory in Him!

    Your spirit, preservation, salvation and outlook are no less beautiful than a gorgeous sunrise or delicate hummingbird. And since those things will be dissolved one day and you will live forever, God's displays of His power and creative might in you are even more precious and beautiful. Let the humble hear thereof and be glad and rejoice. We rejoice to hear.

    Thank you for allowing us to be in these bonds with you. We give the LORD of all creation, and the Lover of your soul great glory. He is worthy.
